Both eye doctors are members of several professional associations including the American Optometric Association, The North Carolina Optometry Association and the Triad Optometric Society. Dr. Bernstorf is a former president of the Triad Optometry Society and Dr. Flaherty is presently an officer in that society. For many years, Dr. Bernstorf was the co-representative to The Medicare Carrier Advisory Committee. This committee has one or two representative from each medical speciality and meets with Medicare officials to help form Medicare policy.
